Broken flagpoles and the King’s Point complex
So I haven’t written in a bit now…sorry for the delay! I’ve been without internet in my room, and haven’t had the chance to go to the library to steal their wi-fi. So yesterday morning, apparently a dump truck doing construction at our school backed into our flagpole…pretty easy thing to do, right? Wrong. Our flagpole is 192 feet tall, and over 3 feet in diameter! It’s massive, and somehow this incompetent obviously still ‘missed’ seeing it. To make things worse, the impact was so bad, it literally bent off the top 20-30 feet of the flagpole…that’s irreparable damage, mates. The 6 foot wide eagle fell from the top, and now the whole area is caution-taped off.
(FYI, for scale that rope is about an inch thick.)
Well, the end of the trimester is approaching, and I’ve just been a busy bee caught up in a routine of class, playing regiment, working out, and homework. As of late, with the massive new changes in the people running the administration, there seems to be a common thought process abroad, one that interestingly could be compared to the president, to an extent. The new administration’s overall policy seems to be to, “burn everything to the ground, rebuild everything from nothing, and hope it somehow fixes the problem.”
They’ve cut down a scary number of old oaks and cedars around campus, and have just been tearing down and rebuilding a number of projects simultaneously throughout campus. All the administration offices have been moved around, and a number of positions have been fired and re-hired.
But to be honest, I’m more caught up in the day to day routine mostly to even worry about that. I’ve been so tied up on the micro level that I haven’t even been able to look up to the macro level of things.
Had a differential equations test again today…thought it was a home run, turns out I messed up on a 3rd order differential equation…shit! oh well, I at least still hopefully got a 90.
23 days until I come home.
